Friday, 12th June
Dear Customers and friends,
Doesn’t time fly! It only seems like 5 minutes ago that we were battening down the hatches and getting ready for lockdown. It’s been a strange hibernation for some and flat out exhausting for others but either way, I’m delighted to report that we’re getting ready to reopen early in July. We can’t wait to welcome you back.
Things will be a little different around here as we adjust to meet all the new guidelines. We’re working hard to make sure everyone is safe but we’re also doing everything we can to keep the same welcoming atmosphere. If you would like to learn more about what we’re doing to operate safely please take a look here. We have put a huge amount of work into making our business an even safer place to be. Operating sensibly in this new world is the ultimate team effort and we’re going to need your help too, to make things work in the right way. We’ll be posting more information online as we get closer to the opening date.
So when can I book a room?
We’ll be open from Saturday July 4th (Government rules allowing) and to get the ball rolling we’re offering a 30% reduction on B&B for all room types for the first 2 weeks (4th – 18th inclusive). Just use the promotion code STAY30 when you book with us – just click on a logo below to go to the booking page of your choice.
If government advice changes and we’re not allowed to open, we’ll get in touch right away and rebook or cancel (as you wish). We’re also keeping things flexible so that you can cancel bookings anytime up to 24 hours before arrival for bookings during this year.
And what’s happening in the Bar and Restaurant?
It’ll be the same but different. The same delicious food (our chefs are working on the menus as we speak), the same great beer, wine and cocktails. But also a little different, in the sense that table spacing and service will be new. You’ll see a lot more hosting and careful management of the floor, limitations on numbers, lots and lots of cleaning (strict rules about how many people in the loos…). And also more emphasis on our outside space where we’ll be providing marquees and gazebos in our gardens to keep everyone comfortable. Firepits and fairy lights for night-time. No Glastonbury this year but a little festival vibe outside instead! We don’t have a garden in The Grosvenor Arms but we’ll make the courtyard as enticing as we can.
We’re also bringing in a new app which will allow everyone to download the food and drinks menu and order and pay from a phone or iPad. It’s not compulsory and normal table service will be available too but some of you might enjoy the control!
Kings Arms, Dorchester
We had to suspend work on the Kings Arms during lockdown but I’m glad to say that the project is getting going again and we’re looking forward to confirming an opening date shortly. There are still restrictions on how fast construction can proceed but at least we’re making progress again. The launch can’t come soon enough!
We’re really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in July.
